Overgaauw Tria Corda 2012
Overgaauw
Overgaauw's flagship blend consists of the “three hearts” of the Estate: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The name Tria Corda was inspired by Quintus Ennius (c. 239 BC – c. 169 BC) ‘the father of Roman poetry’. Three languages were used in Rudiae, his town of birth; Oscan, Greek, and Latin. He used to refer to this language heritage by saying that he had “three hearts” (Quintus Ennius tria corda habere sese dicebat, quod loqui Graece et Osce et Latine sciret).
Its seductively perfumed nose offers generous layers of cassis, raspberry, cedar and a touch of spice and minerals. The nose follows through onto a silky, well-balanced palate that delivers fine ripe tannins and a long, concentrated finish – the perfect foil for the wine’s brilliant fruit.
